FanimeCon 2010 Survival Guide II

May 29th, 2010

Our party has reached epic proportions, and the busiest day of the convention is still ahead of us. Saturday means more energy, more events, more friends, and more fun! It also means longer lines and bigger crowds, so please remember we’re here to enjoy ourselves. Here are some tips for the coming days of this adventure:

  1. Please be considerate of fellow fans, hotel staff, local businesses, and everybody in general. The City of San Jose has been a gracious host, so let’s do what we can to make the convention as enjoyable as possible for the city too.
  2. If you get into a situation where tempers start to rise, seek the nearest Rover to keep things cool. Rovers wear yellow arm bands, and they have radios which they can use to escalate to appropriate authorities or emergency services.
  3. Should your pride as a paladin demand justice, remember that the Gaming room (Exhibit Hall 3) is open during all hours of the convention and can provide an honorable arena for worthy opponents.
  4. Have lots of fun with other members. Share your passion for anime with newer fans, and help them level up!
  5. As always, remember to recharge your energy and health points: Eat, sleep, and shower regularly. Adventures go a lot farther when party members stay healthy.
  6. More people can mean more fantastic FanimeCon fun, so let’s make this party a great experience for everyone!

FanimeCon 2010 Survival Guide

May 26th, 2010

Attending a four day convention seems simple enough, but there are certain things that should be kept in mind while at FanimeCon to keep yourself and everyone around you happy. Here are some tips for a comfortable con stay:

  1. Remember to BATHE. By the end of the day, in crowds of that many people, no one walks away smelling or looking their best despite all the work of the morning. Showers refresh and cleanse us, and both are necessary to remain your best throughout FanimeCon. In relation to that, deodorant should be applied daily, and everyone should have a change of clothes for every day they are attending.
  2. Always stay hydrated and eat. No one wants to faint because they didn’t have enough water in their system.  There are plenty of stands within the convention center and many places outside where one can find a meal. Please try to eat at least twice a day.
  3. Sleep is another necessity. People who get no sleep tend to be irritable and get sick much easier. Therefore, when you begin yawning, go back to your hotel room for at least a few hours to get some rest and relaxation before continuing your adventures at FanimeCon.
  4. Alcohol is prohibited within the convention center and will be confiscated on sight with no exceptions.
  5. If you need any information on anything at all, you can find your answers at the Info Booth within the convention center.
  6. Up to date schedule changes can be seen via the FanimeCon mobile schedule which can be accessed at http://m.fanime.com

Many of these things seem like common sense, but being reminded never hurt. Remember to stay safe and have fun this Memorial Day Weekend at FanimeCon 2010!
