A Letter From The FanimeCon Chair

Posted by | May 28, 2014

It is time to sit back, grab your favorite beverage and remember what a great time you and 25,000 of your favorite friends just had. If you are thinking “Wait, what?” then you should probably register now for next year.

As you probably know by now, this was the last year for this year’s Chair Team. Personally, it has been a challenging, turbulent, and brilliant! journey. It is one that could not have happened without the great fans that we have. You fans are what this is all about. Thank you for your encouragement, dedication, correction, ideas and enthusiasm. As long as we have this FanimeCon can only continue to thrive.

I also want to take the time to thank all the staff. Each year we have over 1,000 people who volunteer their time over the entire year to make 4+ days in San Jose truly special. These people over the last 3 years have never stopped to amaze me, challenge me, and make me laugh. For this I want to thank every last one of them from the bottom of my heart. You guys rock!!!

Josh and Gary, my vice-chairs, are the people who truly kept everything going in the right direction. More than a few times they showed me the folly of my ways before things went too far to the Dark Side… Light Side? These two are truly unsung heroes. I can truly say that anything good that came out of the Chair Team was from them.

My stepping down is made much easier knowing who the next Chairman is going to be. As a “returning” Chair, his knowledge and experience are unparalleled. Point in fact, he taught me a lot both directly and by being able to follow his lead.

You are not getting rid of me that easily {insert evil laughter here}. I will still be around in the years to come. Nice try.
