2023 COVID-19 Policy FAQ
What is the COVID-19 Policy?
Our COVID-19 policy for 2023 can be found here.
Will you be dropping your COVID vaccination requirements?
No, at this time we will not be revising our COVID-19 guidelines. As a private event, we may enact stricter COVID-19 policies than are required by federal, state, and county ordinances. We ask for your help in following our COVID-19 policies and your understanding as we navigate another unique year at FanimeCon.
What do you mean “fully vaccinated and boosted?”
Fully vaccinated and boosted:
- Six months to less than five years of age: Primary series
- Five to 17 years of age: Primary series and (one) booster
- 18+ years of age: Primary series and (one) booster
Please see the U.S. Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) for recognized vaccines eligible to attend FanimeCon.
Medical and personal exemptions, or a negative COVID-19 test, will not be accepted in lieu of vaccination.
All vaccinations must have been received prior to Wednesday, May 24th, 2023.
What if I am not eligible for a booster?
I have received a Bivalent shot
If you received a Bivalent shot after January 1st, 2023, you are considered ineligible for a booster and would therefore meet our vaccination requirements.
I received my primary series in 2023
If you received your primary series after January 1st, 2023, you are considered ineligible for a booster and would therefore meet our vaccination requirements.
I contracted COVID
We do not accept proof of contracting COVID as a substitute for vaccination.
My booster shot was a while ago, do I need another booster?
As long as you have received a primary series and one booster at any point prior to Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, you are considered fully vaccinated and boosted.
What is your mask policy?
Our mask policy can be found here.
What kinds of masks are allowed?
We are requiring all attendees to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth while in FanimeCon indoor spaces. You need to wear a surgical mask or respirator mask while at FanimeCon. This is based on the CDC mask guidelines.
What if I’m wearing a helmet and/or mask for cosplay?
You must wear an accepted mask underneath your cosplay helmet and/or mask.
I have a full face of makeup for cosplay. Are face shields or the clear plastic face masks acceptable?
No, you are required to wear a surgical mask or respirator mask while at FanimeCon. This is based on the CDC mask guidelines.
I have a cute fandom cloth mask! Can I wear that?
Alone, the cloth mask does not meet our mask policy. Please wear your cloth mask over an accepted surgical mask or respirator mask while at FanimeCon.
My child has a hard time keeping a mask on.
Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a mask. All children ages 2 and older are still required to wear a mask.
What documents will be accepted for proof of vaccination?
More information can be found on our website here.
The name on my I.D. no longer matches my vaccination card.
In the case of legal name changes where the name on the I.D. and the name on the vaccination records no longer match, you will need to bring another form of identification that links you to the proof of vaccination.
My child does not have a photo I.D.
We accept student I.D. cards. Children whose school does not provide I.D. cards, or are under 10 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Can I bring a photo of my vaccination card?
We will only be accepting physical or digital vaccination cards. We will NOT be accepting photocopies of vaccination cards or photos of vaccination cards.
How do I get a digital COVID vaccination card?
If you live in the State of California, you can request yours through the online Digital Vaccine Record. If you are not a resident of California, you can see if your state issues digital vaccination cards here.
I have lost my original vaccine card and my state does not have digital vaccine cards, what do I do?
Unfortunately we would be unable to verify your vaccination status and you would not be able to pick up your badge. Please check with your healthcare provider for other options.
Will you be using the CLEAR app?
We will not be partnering with CLEAR for our event this year. We will however still accept the CLEAR digital vaccination record.
I am an international attendee and my documentation looks different from the United States.
We still require proof of a primary series plus one booster. FanimeCon will only be accepting vaccinations approved by the CDC. Please ensure your vaccinations have been approved prior to arrival to con.
