Back by popular demand, Cosplay Gatherings Department presents Cosplay Workshops! Cosplay workshops are small demos and classes that teach things that the average to semiprofessional cosplayer may want to know. From how to sew and wig basics, to more advance items like Wig Ventilation and makeup techniques. Check them out in the Cosplay Hangout!

Procrastination Party!

Thursday, 7 pm – 9 pm

Do you have a cosplay you haven’t finished yet? So do we! Join the Cosplay Gatherings Staff in the Cosplay Hangout as we all finish those last-minute details! Doors open at 7PM and close at 9PM.

Body Paint Workshop

Friday, 2 pm‐3 pm / Sunday, 1 pm – 2 pm

Having troubles with your body paint? The Cosplay Cleric will go over body painting and special effects makeup basics with you at this workshop. Bring your makeup with you and we’ll work through some tips and tricks to make your body paint look great and last longer!

Hand Sewing Workshop

Friday, 6 pm – 7 pm / Saturday, 1 pm – 2 pm / Saturday, 8 pm – 9 pm / Sunday, 11 am – 12 pm

In this workshop, the Cosplay Cleric will teach you how to sew by hand, sew on buttons, and basic repairs. Together, we’ll be making strawberry pincushions to store your pins and needles. Materials will be provided!

Dirt, Grunge, and Grime: A makeup demonstration

Saturday, 4 pm – 5 pm

Ever wondered how to make yourself look dirty without the dirt? Join the Cosplay Cleric as she demonstrates how to make cosplayers look like they’ve just stepped out of the wastelands! This demonstration will include how to create a dirtied look with either drugstore makeup or special effects makeup.

Sewing Machine Demonstration

Saturday, 7 pm – 8 pm

Most of us are familiar with the basic sewing machine, but what about sergers or embroidery machines? The Cosplay Cleric will be demonstrating how to use a Serger and an Embroidery machine and how they can help improve your Cosplay!

Contact Lenses and Cosplay: a Q&A!

Have questions about contact lenses but don’t know where to start or how? The Cosplay Cleric will be taking your questions and discussing how to begin wearing cosplay lenses. (Hint: it starts with your optometrist!)

The Wig Doctor is here to show you how to cut your bangs and layer your hair as well as obtaining the perfect curl for your future Merida or Rose Quartz cosplay or any curly haired character you can think of!

Spiking & Teasing

Are spikes the bane of your existence? The Wig Doctor is here to help! Stop on by and she’ll show you various ways to make wig hair defy gravity!

Character Styling Demo: Elsa

Saturday, 5 pm – 5:30 pm

The Wig Doctor will be styling on an Elsa wig! Come on by with any wig questions you might have and she’ll be happy to answer!

Pigtails & Ponytails

Sunday, 2 pm – 2:30 pm

Did you finally find the perfect color wig for your Yoko or Monika wig only to realize that it’s not meant to be pulled into a high ponytail? The Wig Doctor can show you that anything is possible with the right attitude and know how! Stop on by and learn various ponytail and pigtail tips and tricks!

Hairlines

Sunday, 4 pm – 4:30 pm

Want to take your wig to the next level? The Wig Doctor wants to help! Come on by and she’ll show you how to make glued hairlines so your Axel or Phoenix Wright or any character with an exposed hairline can stand out in the crowd!

Ventilation

Sunday, 4:30 pm – 5 pm

A slightly more advanced technique, wig ventilating is sewing hair into a wig using a specialized latch hook. If you’re looking for a realistic hairline, it’s this! The Wig Doctor will be ventilating a wig and will be more than happy to answer any questions you shoot her way!
