Tekken 7 Ruleset
A. Tournament Rules
This tournament is Double Elimination (two total match losses).
All tournament sets will be best-of-three, until the Top Four are determined, at which point tournament sets will be best-of-five. Rules below do not change between these two set formats.
- Players select their characters. Either player may elect to do Double-Blind Character Selection (see section 4)
- Random Stage for Game 1.
- The players play the first game of the set.
- The winning player of the preceding game must keep their character selection for the next game.
- The losing player of the preceding game may switch the stage (with the same character) or switch the character (with a random stage) for the next game.
- The next game is played.
- Repeat steps four through six for all subsequent games until the set is complete.
Double-blind Character Selection
Either player may request that a double-blind selection occur. In this situation a pool captain, referee, or third party will be told, in secret, of each player’s character choices for the first round. Both players will then select their first round character, with the designated third party person validating that the character selections match the players’ initial choices.
Pausing and the Home Button
Pauses (including the use of the PS4 button) are not permitted once the game has started, except for the purpose of summoning a Tournament Official for cases of controller malfunction, external interference, or case-by-case reasons as deemed valid by the Tournament Officials. All other pauses will incur a round loss to the player who pauses the game, or a game loss if the round results in a decisive win.
Stalling, or intentionally making the game unplayable, is banned and will be penalized at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling includes, but is not limited to, becoming invisible or going to a position on the stage where a character cannot be reached by the opposing player. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the game for the player that initiated the action.
If a game draw were to occur through Double K.O. or timeout on the game screen, the game will not be scored and both players will replay the tied game with the same character selections.
Warm-up periods, button checks, and “handwarmers” may not exceed 60 seconds on the game clock. Violation of this rule may result in a game loss at the discretion of the Tournament Official.
Anyone who is not present for their set by ten minutes past the scheduled start time of the round is subject to a total disqualification from the event.
- Platform: Playstation 4
- Tournament Mode Default Settings
No player may use any customization features including colors, items, or names that are not default at the character select screen at any time prior to or during a tournament match. Doing so will result in the player receiving a match loss.
