May 18, 2022

We’re super excited that the FanimeCon 2022 schedule is now live! Check out all our events for 2022 at grid.fanime.com

Due to the unique planning challenges this year, FanimeCon 2022 will not be a 24 hour event. We hope to return to our usual hours in 2023. Our modified hours are:

  • Sunday May 29 (Day 3): 9:00 am to 2:00 am
  • Monday May 30 (Day 4): 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Some events will not be in their usual rooms. A few events affected by this include Maid Cafe, all Panel Rooms, and Manga Lounge.

The following events or departments are sleeping for 2022, meaning they are not occurring or putting on events. We’re looking forward to their return in 2023!

Despite these changes, we are happy to unveil a brand new department operating this 2022: J-Fashion! They will have two fashion shows, a trunk show, and lots of panels and events so please check them out!
While there are a lot of changes this year, there’s still a smorgasbord of things to see and do this year including: four panel tracks, all the events at Stage Zero, tons of exciting tournaments on our SAGE Stage, Artist Alley, Dealer’s Hall, Maid Cafe, the Black & White Ball, Karaoke, Speed Dating, our Charity Auction for the Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area, and so much more. We are working hard to modify and update FanimeCon events to ensure the safety of our community attending the convention. FanimeCon 2022’s COVID-19 policies are below.

  • Everyone attending FanimeCon 2022 must be fully vaccinated prior to May 26, 2022. This means you will need the final vaccine dose 14 days prior to the convention, which is on or before May 12, 2022.
    • Fully vaccinated means you received a booster shot after receiving either a two-dose Pfizer/Moderna vaccine series or one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine. If you are not yet eligible for a booster by May 12, 2022, you are considered fully vaccinated.
    • Booster Eligibility
      • Pfizer/Moderna: 5 months after completing the two-dose vaccine series.
      • Johnson & Johnson: 2 months after the one-dose vaccine.
  • We are not allowing negative COVID-19 tests or medical or personal exemptions instead of being fully vaccinated.
  • Masks will be required in indoor event spaces and outside the convention center entrance. Please see CDC masking guidelines for the appropriate type of mask to wear.
    • FanimeCon will require all attendees, guests, and staff to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all FanimeCon indoor event spaces. In addition to our indoor event space, masks will be required to be worn when outside in front of the San Jose Convention Center due to crowded conditions.
    • Prolonged periods of mask removal are not permitted for eating or drinking; the mask must be worn between bites, sips, and taking medication. Exceptions are personal hotel rooms, designated eating or drinking areas, , or FanimeCon performers actively on stage performing. Designated eating and drinking areas will be clearly marked with signs.
    • Please follow masking policies for restaurants and other spaces operated by our facility partners. In accordance with California guidelines, policies will be posted at the entrance of each establishment.

We will be following up on how you can verify your vaccination status in the coming months.

Our COVID-19 policies are based on the guidelines of the City of San Jose, the County of Santa Clara, the California Public Health Department, and the CDC, and we will continue to implement additional policies beyond local, state, and federal minimums as needed for our community and convention. FanimeCon has been closely monitoring the evolving public health situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and will update our community when changes to our COVID-19 policies arise.

We ask for your help in following our COVID-19 policies and your understanding as we are all navigating this unique year at FanimeCon.

Last updated: March 19, 2022

  • Added definition of fully vaccinated
  • Added additional information on no exemptions to vaccination policy
  • Added additional information on masking requirements
  • Added clarification that FanimeCon is requiring additional COVID-19 policies above and beyond the minimum required by local, state, and federal agencies
